Even our living memory fades fairly fast. Maybe, at best, a couple years before people can be convinced the past is different than it actually was.
My favorite color is brown, well, rust specifically, so beige is nice. It's not as important than the ability to reflect light though. With that you can do all sorts of mood lighting and coloring with vibrant objects.
