As the real gurus of Agile point-out,
most of the nuveau methods/processes were ideological,
but agile had engineering-requirements, too ( test-1st develoopment, e.g. )
Which makes it much superior to all the ideology-but-no-engineering-hardening methods.
As they also pointed-out, you NEED disciplined individuals & teams to make it work.
IF you don't have effective & driven-by-quality/integrity-of-work teams, agile isn't the right method for you.
I'd go further:
I'd say that both waterfall & agile ( Wysocki's book on project-management identifies that Traditional is the poorest match for reality, Agile's best, & Extreme is research whereas Emertxe is where you've got a solution, but don't know what it's for, yet ( like Post-it notes glue, before sticky-notes were invented ) )
both waterfall & agile are mis-apprehensions of what's required.
Until you understand the required architecture, you can't make the right architecture-choices, right?
So, why not make a prototype agilely, until one has a proper domain-model, an executable toy-prototype which demonstrates all the key functions, & then when you've got the working, executable model, then you understand the architecture required, and only then do you switch from agile-prototyping to building-out the real, hardened thing..
Just seems sane, to me, but I'm just some idiot with a bit of thinking, not a working .. anything, really.

Sometimes one needs to accept that some people really, actually intend that one's kind be butchered, for their ideology, or some other aspect of their personality/religion.
Young people are generally much less capable of actually-accepting/actually-believing that others aren't motivated by wanting to be liked..

It seems to be both life-experience battering it into one AND one's innate-nature ( if either one is defective for accepting the specific understanding, then it just won't get in. And I'm saying that as a guy who took about 1/2 century to learn the meaning. )
Understand that people who push to displace objectivity for sake of their ideology are, on both right & left, working to make-certain that this century gets "settled" through lashing-out with weapons, until factional-supremacism, of whomever "wins", has vanquished considered-reasoning, objectivity, correctness, sanity, responsibility, accountability, all that are required for civil-rights to be.
The amount of dogwhistle-programming going on, now even in mainstream left media ( CNN, MSNBC, "progressive" memes are getting infected with it significantly, nowadays )..
as ClimatePunctuation continues accelerating through the next few decades, it'll just keep intensifying..
We NEED to reduce the amount of ideology-instead-of-considered-reasoning.

Back in the last century, iirc, or the very early 2000's, I logged-out of my desktop ( linux ) one time & discovered there was a new user on my machine..

From what I've read, thus-far, prohibiting autotools would be a good 1st-step.
Then auditing all the damn ocean-of-vulnerability-in-a-single-crufty-swamp dependencies, & getting committed about clarity & accountability in packages, would probably be required.
I read an article, a couple years ago, about web-frameworks..
The guy doing the writing said he found they were often malware, or corrupt, or trojans, or utter-bullshit..
Haskell's got a kind of mantram: don't bring in a whole framework, just compose what you need, yourself, together.
Its a granularity-difference.
Requiring a framework, which itself requires other frameworks, as that guy was pointing-out ( he wasn't interested in Haskell ), is a liability nightmare.
But the culture of just having an infinite bring-in of frameworks & libraries, so one can write a little, easy code, is a culture that is biting the world's security in the ass.
It cannot be, that people just include everything from everywhere, & somehow have secure/trustworthy systems.
To have a secure, trustworthy system, one needs to know that one has disincluded corruption/malicious-code.
That requires limiting what's included, that includes auditing, that includes accountability, that includes having understandable, sufficiently-clear stuff that one is including.
Consistently, at all levels, relentlessly.
It's a chain: you cannot have a weak-link without compromising the whole chain.
You cannot compromise ANY subsystem in a distro, & have a trustworthy distro.
There are 2 contradictory paradigms: the "magic bullet paradigm", which doesn't care how much rot, compromise, anything, so long as they include the "magic bullet" which takes-out the competitor..
.. vs the "no weak-points, whatsoever, paradigm", which doesn't rely on magic, it relies on defense-in-depth, and carefulness, and everybody working coherently, etc, in order to disallow corruption/malicious-actors any leverage/grasp on us.
They are cultures, not just ideas.
Some people cannot tolerate a "no weak-points" culture, they "NEED" to compromise things ( I don't care about the bugs, get more features in!!" ), and they must be put out into the other organizations/operations, because they CANNOT tolerate careful-paradigm.
It truly is a culture, or "religion", and there's no faking it.
Look to OpenBSD, & see what it takes to be like them..

You'd probably want to segregate the hard-tech from the soft/bio-tech:
IF you require deterministic-performance, THEN stay away from meat-implimentation.
IF you require sentience-sensitivity, THEN stay away from hard-tech implimentation.
( same principle as requiring both people & systems, in order to project effective force, economically, militarily, in disaster-relief, in any domain,
same principle as using both a wordsless-wholistic metaphor-understanding sentience in one's right-hemisphere, vs a reductionistic sentience in one's left, as the split-brain patients showed.
2 orthogonal systems, collaborating .. produces greater results than either-kind would on its own! )
Organic-sentience and machine-compute, organic doing the high-level-decisions, & machines doing the low-level-competencies, seems much more realistic.
The single most-important thing you CAN do, is understand yourself as profoundly as you can.

I'd require it of all high-schoolers, planetwide, for their HS diploma:
simply by making people encounter considering how they're forming the meaning that they, themselves, are, would lever humanity up into much greater global understanding/competence, though it'd take a generation or 2 for the effects to become visible...
Lanier's "Foreign to Familiar" & Hofstede's "Exploring Culture" are both important, too, because if you know that some of the dimensions of culture they identify work a particular way for you ( ie doesn't-work or you-need-this ), then suddenly, that spotlights something in your nature that has harmony in a specific subset of cultures, and shows you why that is doing this, in you..
