Fair point, they're somewhat limited in patterns though aren't they? (I don't know, I'm in Europe and about the only time I've seen someone wearing a bandana they were cosplaying American bikers)

I have this sort of thing all the time here in Spain, though with shit/sheet.

There's plenty going the other way too, of course. At least I don't mistake miedo and mierda these days ...

Then you saw her face?

As a woman with a high hairline, I embraced having nice hats ... seriously, I love my hats and there's no reason dudes can't as well :-)

I also rock lots of headscarves, but that's a bit more gendered :-/

I thought it was just funny that the term "walkable" for some people invokes the idea of using bikes

Just going to chip in, I saw the post you mention. I neither commented nor voted either way on it because TBH it reminded me of an art history class, and the chosen first image without context made me think the subject matter was probably sexist (unfair perhaps, but just the vibe it gave me).

I love some comics that mix up art styles, but I'm generally looking at them in the same way that I look at how movies are directed, I want the kind of thoughtfulness where sometimes just a few lines can tell you so much more than any text. If the art is playing off the story I can enjoy it, but without that the art has to stand on it's own; in this case it didn't evoke anything positive or curious for me, so I would didn't delve further.

Flip side? Uhura is fucking awesome and inspired my mum (now 86) to become a lifelong Trek fan. I'm also a lifelong fan, and I've been able to introduce it to my wife, who is also a fan now.

In summary, there's plenty of Trek fans who aren't straight white cisgendered men, and the number of toxic morons in this cohort feels much much less than in just about any other mainstream fandom.

Wouldn't that make it a bikeable city?

I live in Europe, not about to break out the bike to go less than a couple of km

Walkable city means taking a bike. Got it.

Wow, and I thought my car insurance of €170 was expensive this year!

Fantastic!

I personally own an old pre-smartphone accelerometer with a built-in acceleration calculator (and what is now considered retro LED display) that pretty much works on the same principle, a free-moving arm is attached to a potentiometer to measure the angle accurately (though that only works in one direction).

The accelerometers we use for crash testing use two little crystals rubbing together, they can pick up changes as little as 0.1G but also remain accurate up to 2000G.
