The people who do this:

  1. Don’t give a shit about your comfort. They have sky high levels of not giving a fuck about anything. These people are intensely antisocial. They’ll play loud music on their Bluetooth speaker in public transport and get mad at you if you complain.

  2. Suffer mental illness like schizophrenia and depression. People who can barely get it together to procure food.

  3. Hippies who think aluminium will give them cancer or something.

There could be a genetic component, but sweat smells because of bacteria. You are not immune to bacteria, no matter which genes you have.

This is me. I barely have the energy to get through each day. Maintaining friendships feels like an impossible mountain to climb. Being an introvert plays a large part in this as I feel more tired after hanging out with friends. In truth, friendship has almost always felt like a burden more than a benefit to me. I kept them because I had to, or I was supposed to. I don’t feel like I’m missing much now.

Because they're not going to do that. You can't call them terrorists and expect logical reasonable action or reaction.

So we shouldn’t call them terrorists and hope they stop killing people? I’m sorry that doesn’t make any sense. Israel isn’t about to stop their war on Hamas, yet it doesn’t stop the world criticising them.

The Palestinian people by and large did not vote Hamas in, over 50% of the people in Gaza were not alive during the last election.

While technically true, almost 70% of Gazans support armed attacks on Israeli civilians.](https://pcpsr.org/sites/default/files/Poll%2089%20English%20Full%20Text%20September%202023.pdf) I know it doesn’t fit the oppressor/oppressed narrative, but the vast majority of people in Gaza support what Hamas is doing. If elections were held today, according to that same poll, they would vote Hamas back in.

Have you seen Chinese TikTok vs America TikTok? It’s wild. The Chinese TikTok has videos of scientists and musicians and engineers all tackling major problems. It’s inspirational. The American TikTok is absolutely fucked. There’s clearly heavy algorithm manipulation. At the very least, we know China could make American TikTok not terrible and they choose not to.

For this to be true all immigrants would have to be wealthy enough to be able to scoop up all supply of homes in Canada.

No, it would require them to rent houses. Investors buy all the houses because they can reliably rent them. If they couldn’t, their business case would be completely different. They wouldn’t be buying houses, and they certainly wouldn’t be paying so much.

Further to this, so many renters places upwards pressure on rent prices.

Then we have to accept that some consequential proportion of immigrants do indeed buy houses, and place upward pressure on house prices.

We agree it’s a complex system, but I do not agree with your implied argument that supply and demand doesn’t exist for housing in Canada. Clearly it does, and higher demand increases both rent and housing prices.

I think you’re right. I’ve been disappointed with how slowly hardware has been gaining AV1 support. Only this year’s Apple silicon supports it. The most current Apple TV does not. The current Nvidia Shield does not. I don’t think any smart TVs support it. Most Android phones do not. Chromecast 4K does not. I don’t remember HEVC support taking this long to proliferate.

Just send an email afterwards with the meeting notes. CC all participants and/or relevant people. They almost never contend the notes, and if they do, I invite more people to the meeting next time so they can’t pull that again.

This is definitely why I’m subscribed to Linux: identity politics. Thanks for your valuable contribution to the Linux community, OP.

I think this highlights the issue well. Marvel continues to be popular with primarily men. Disney has tried desperately to attract women by killing off popular male characters and introducing young women. Unfortunately all they’ve achieved is mostly just alienating men. I’ve given up on Marvel entirely.

The gap between critics and audiences has never been wider. The Last Jedi had an audience score of 42% on Rotten Tomatoes, while critics scored it 91%. It raises the question: what exactly is the purpose of critics? They used to exist to tell regular people if they’d like movies. That’s clearly no longer their goal. I’ve given up on critic scores entirely. I use IMDB ratings, even though Amazon has been caught deleting negative ratings about The Rings of Power.
