The show does have some darker and more serious parts but it does overall stay pretty silly yeah

[–] DevCuber 2 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Glad I could help. Keep us updated on whether or not you like it

[–] DevCuber 6 points 1 month ago (5 children)

Tl;dr starting with matt smith's first series is fine. So is starting with Cristopher Ecclestons's or Ncuti Gatwa's, but you can start pretty much anywhere really.

I don't know if you know this but doctor who is separated into two shows, "classic who" which was the original one and "nuWho" which is the current one. classic who is separated in 26 seasons, each one is divided in episodes, which are themselves separated into ~2-10 20 minutes parts. NuWho follows a more normal structure of series (and not seasons) divided into 45 min episodes. Finally the latest series (14) has technically been renamed to season 1 (because Disney got rights to the diffusion and wanted to rename it for newer audiences) but that's confusing since classic who already used seasons so some people (including me) still call it series 14.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend starting with classic who as the episodes are slower and longer (although if you like the older star trek shows it might be a similar rhythm (not sure as I've never watched star trek)) also a few of the episodes are missing.

If you're starting with nuWho, I would recommend starting with series 1 with Christopher Eccleston, as this will allow you to learn the lore of the show without problems. Both Matt Smith's Series 5 and Ncuti Gatwa's Series 14 are also good starting points. Note that the latter is also the newest season and is meant to be a jumping point to the show.

With all that said you can still watch most episodes without any prior context, so start with whichever one you want, I would personally recommend "Vincent and the doctor". Finally don't listen to the fans too much when they tell you X doctor is bad and you shouldn't watch them. Try watching what you want and try something else if you didn't like it.

Yeah, it was the default that came with the tablet, there's even a PC mode where you can use the built-in physical keyboard

[–] DevCuber 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I already did that, I also tried deleting YouTube entirely (as mentioned by another commenter), but it didn't change anything. I also get the same error on all other apps, so it probably isn't an issue with YouTube links specifically.

[–] DevCuber 1 points 3 months ago

I don't think link verification is the issue as it is present on all android devices, including my phone on which links show up just fine. As to your solution, are you mentioning the add button on the popup ? Because it doesn't seem to do anything

Edit : To be more precise, link verification seems to be what links apps are allowed to open in the first place, so it probably has something to do with it but it's not really specific enough

I wanted to automatically open youtube videos in tubular (a newpipe fork) on my tablet, so I tried enabling the links in the settings but none of them showed up in the menu and I simply got a message telling me "0 supported links" as shown below (the "add" button doesn't do anything). It isn't a bug with the app as it works fine on my phone and I tried it on other apps which showed the same issue (including ones installed from the play store instead of fdroid).

Things I tried:

  • Rebooting my device
  • Trying different permissions for the app
  • Resetting my device's settings
  • I didn't try reinstalling the app but, as I mentioned, I tried installing other apps which also had the same problem

For reference the tablet is a lenovo tab K11 on android 13, it was also issued to me by my school although I doubt that's what's causing the issue.
My phone is a pixel 7 pro running android 15 (grapheneOS)

Does anyone know what's causing the issue and how to fix it.

is the tweet real, I couldn't find it

[–] DevCuber 1 points 5 months ago

Is that dani ?

[–] DevCuber 1 points 5 months ago

Well I develop as a hobby and I'm fairly bad at it so I probably do a lot of stupid things but the reason I do it is because I sync my files using dropbox and don't want them to see those files (They might encrypt them but since it's closed source you can't know for sure)

cross-posted from: https://sh.itjust.works/post/27097438

I store my programs in a cryptomator vault which uses a fuse virtual drive (The default on Linux), but when trying to update pip inside a venv I get an error, then any subsequent use of pip also throws an error and {path_to_venv}/lib/python3.12/site-packages/pip/ becomes empty.

I imagine this is an issue that would happen in any FUSE drive although I don't know how to test that.

Here are the logs

  • OS : Fedora 40
  • pip version: 23.3.2 updating to 24.2
  • python version: 3.12.7

I already made a bug report on the github

Does anyone know a temporary workaround for this ?
