Yeah we use that too. Works fine. A bit slow to update between us, but a refresh usually solves it

You'll be fine mate.

I re-hoisted the flag after a decade and two minions myself this year. The old ways still work fine, but there's also a ton of new things to make life easier.

Check out the .arr suite, burn uTorrent and get Qbittorrent and try out Jellyfin.

Feel free to ask me directly if you need some pointers.

Cool initiative. Filled it in just now

Sounds like you are setting up exactly what I have running!

GMKtec G3 (N100 Intel CPU) running in Proxmox with NFS access to my NAS.
It works like a dream, transcoding everything I throw at it with ease.

Just a quick piece of advice: Repaste that sucker the moment you get it. I threw some Noctua paste I had laying around and it worked wonders. The only time the fan kicked on was when I added the libraries and Jellyfin had to sort out 6 TB of media from the NAS. Took maybe 10 minutes before it was done and ready to go.

Let me know if you need some help setting it up. Proxmox and Tailscale (if you want that) had me stuck for a few hours trying to understand TUN.

I'm a little late to the party, but a fairly easy way to combat that fear is to install Tailscale (free) on your server and have them do the same on the AppleTV. It's supported from version 17 I believe. It uses Wireguard to encrypt so your ISP won't see squat.

I'm hosting a server for friends and family too and I refuse to open ports for it. It works super well and is fairly easy to setup.

Saw someone say it was due to Cloudflare.

I’m sure (hope) they will be back soon

Cheers mate!

Have heard about them and must admit I’m a bit skeptical, but I’ll do another round of reading up on them.

MAM looks good as the missus reads a lot on her tablet. Is it mostly English or other languages too?
Might have to set up Readarr as well now…

This is incredible mate!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write it all out.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the next few months and try to get in. LST sounds the most fitting tbh. Relaxed and easy as long as you make a tiny bit of effort.

Thanks again for great advice!

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

I’ll subscribe and hope for some good ones to open up.

Any trackers you’d recommend in particular?

[–] Bronzie 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah it was awesome. I didn't download a thing for years because the service was good and price was fair.

This year I finally gave in. Paying for 6 different streaming services and still not finding the movie we wanted to watch made me get a NAS and cancel (almost) all subscriptions. We kept Spotify and Netflix.

They can all get bent, literally.

Mostly because I figured you needed more help than a link to some guide, which I assumed you must have already attempted before asking here.

I see where your reply is coming from, but what I did might not be at all relevant to your case, depending on your setup. That's why there are specific guides for different use-cases.

Best of luck mate.

I have it all via Docker.

Let me know if you need some pointers mate.
