Dark Mode Question (midwest.social)
submitted 1 week ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Hey all, noob here. In the system settings of Pop OS I chose dark mode. At first everything was fine. But something happened. This issue is only happening in the Show Applications area. It is dark mode, but the text is all black instead of switching over to a lighter color like it did before. Makes it tough to read as you can see in the screenshot. I've tried flipping to light mode and then back to dark mode several times of varying length with no success. Any tips to get it back to normal?

Bonus issue: I have uninstalled OpenRGB, but it is still showing up in the app list as you can see in the screenshot. Any way to remove it? If I reinstall OpenRGB, I get a second icon.

Pre-Camp House Cleaning (midwest.social)

Hey all, with camp just a few weeks away I'd like to reach out to you and see what you would like to see. After all, this is YOUR forum much more than it is mine.

Anything you'd like to see from me? Any kind of content you'd like to do or take over? Anything I'm doing that annoys the hell out of you?

Generally I've been trying to do an opponent preview on Monday/Tuesday, game thread, and post game thread. And yeah, I've missed occasionally. Sorry.

Let me know what you think.

So just got my computer switched over to Pop! OS.

When I open the Pop Shop, the installers don't give me an option to change the location of the app installs. I have 4 disks, 2 nvmes, 2 hard disks. I would prefer to install some of my apps to the 2nd nvme, which I have mounted to /Apps. Mainly the games I will play, along with Stream and Lutris.

Would I need to install from the terminal with apt or nala? I installed nala because it looks cleaner, but we'll see.

Bates signed a 2 year deal with the Lions after visiting the Packers and Commanders. Bates gained attention in the UFL while on the Michigan Panthers, where he kicked game winning, 64 yard and 62 yard field goals. He was 17 of 22 (77%) for the Panthers, including 7 of 7 from 40-49 yards and 6 of 10 with 50+ yards.

Interesting they gave him a two year deal instead of a one year prove it deal. Maybe they anticipate him winning the job?

Lions sign Goff to a 4 year, $212M extension, with $170M guaranteed. The $53M AAV makes Goff the 2nd highest paid player in the NFL, behind Joe Burrow. For now.

Biden shares many of my values and goals, but because he isn't perfectly aligned with my values and goals, I'm voting Trump, a man that shares NONE of my values and goals, as a protest. What could go wrong?

The Lions have matched Brock Wright’s three-year, $12 million offer sheet with the San Francisco 49ers.

While LaPorta may be our #1 going forward, Wright played 44% of the Lions' snaps. He's still a big part of our offense.

News reports have Reddit making the IPO push this year. Get ready for more DRAMA!

So broadcast TV currently broadcasts on ATSC 1.0. You get an antenna and a box or TV that has a digital tuner and you're good. Industry is pushing for ATSC 3.0, which allows for DRM. So even though they are broadcasting on the public airwaves, they can decide you can't watch. It sets up the local broadcasters to be the new cable with ever increasing prices AND play king maker on devices by choosing which can and cannot produce tuners. In my area, 5 channels have ATSC 3.0, and 1 of them turned on DRM. Meaning I can't watch it because HDHomeRun devices aren't approved, likely because it has the ability to record. Luckily, that channel still broadcasts in ATSC 1.0, so I can still watch it for now. 3.0 isn't a fully adopted yet, but that can change in the future (2027?).

Pay attention boys and girls, this is also what they want to do with over the air broadcasts with the ATSC 3.0 format.

Google's problem is they reward bringing new product to market, but they don't reward steady stewardship or iteration to improve existing products. That's why you see Google release multiple products that do the same thing.

Even if Reddit does negotiate manageable rates for "non profit" 3rd party apps (lol), wait until Reddit users figure out they still can't access NSFW content except from the Reddit official app and the new Reddit layout. Break out the popcorn.
