Thinking about that post about how conspiracy theorists would make amazing fantasy writers if they just stopped pretending their bullshit was real...

Here we go, this was my main in sunbreak. Doesn't look like they brought back the ridiculously overpowered instablock, but that's probably for the best lmao. I'm loving all the new shield moves I'm seeing though!

looks like it might be a new spider monster or something, absolutely gorgeous!

impossible. they don't call him mancubus for no reason 🥵

supposedly there's some super being that absorbs emotions, and when it absorbs extremely strong emotions it generates a new being to contain those emotions. dark matter was the result of it absorbing hate, while kirby was the result of it absorbing love.

nah this is hella good. we cannot forget that the people we are arguing with are also people. we still need to argue with them and fight against them when they try to take our rights but the whole time we still gotta remember they are people just like us. and that's gonna make us feel like shit about it sometimes when we're getting pissed at other people, especially when they're our community members, but that's just a reminder that we have empathy and that we are able to care about our fellow man.

I remember at some point hearing a therapist say something along the lines of "I've been in hundreds of rough situations. I've seen hundreds of cases of abuse and trauma, and the day I start feeling numb towards them is the day I stop being a good therapist." that's hella paraphrased of course but I think it gets the point across that sometimes you gotta feel like shit because that lets you know you've still got a conscience working in there somewhere.

expanding a bit on this point, one thing we have to remember is that these people do not go away if we get our way. these people still need to be accounted for in whatever new world we want to make, and if you want the same world as I do, where everyone is treated with respect and cared for, then you also gotta be ready to treat these people with respect and care for them. That doesn't mean you gotta tolerate them when they're being an intolerant shithead but it does mean that the whole time you're throwing their shitty ideas out the door you're still treating them like a human being. remember that dehumanization is nazi shit and we wanna stay far away from that.

I guess I also got a little rambley here but fuck it the internet is for letting your thoughts out whether anyone's gonna read them or not so I say let it flow

damn that's crazy to know. It's wild how stuff like this is possible, I guess that means coyotes and dogs are basically the same animal already.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

the reason all domestic dogs are canis familiaris is because they're all the same species. They can all have non-sterile babies with each other, which is the most commonly accepted definition of a species. A domesticated coyote would still be its own species and get its own scientific name because it would not be able to breed with dogs, at the very least without having a sterile baby.

I'm not worried at all about the wounding. Tenderizing sucked because it was this mandatory chore you had to do every few minutes. "Oh, the part isn't tenderized anymore, time to pull out the clutch claw again."

The wound mechanic is a much more natural reward for good gameplay. If you hit the monster in the same location enough you get a chance to do some massive damage. That's a really nice way to incentivize players to focus on a single part. Plus they get to add a bunch of wicked cool new attacks to capitalize on the wounds!

I just think the shiny red glow on parts looks silly in such an otherwise hyper detailed artstyle lol, that's honestly my only complaint with the whole thing

right, ideal use case would be a spear brace where the mount can stop any charging enemies while the halfling is in ideal position to crossbow those who get too close

Outer Wilds changed my life then Tunic changed it again

Edit: Game Recommendations by the people in the comments:

And some game recommendations by me to add on to the post:

  • Taiji
    • A 2D puzzle game where you slowly unravel how to solve each different element of the puzzles, eventually culminating in a massive puzzle gauntlet. Basically identical in concept and execution to The Witness, but still very much its own unique and fun game.
  • The Golden Idol
    • A puzzle game where each level you must examine a scene to figure out exactly what happened, eventually piecing together the full story over several levels. Don't let the art style put you off, it's an incredibly well done game. Most similar to Return of the Obra Dinn in concept.
  • Stories: The Path of Destinies
    • an action RPG with a branching choice-driven storyline, but not every story has a happy ending... You'll piece together the true story over multiple playthroughs and eventually find the one true path. It wasn't a particularly life-changing game but it was still a lot of fun and worth checking out if it sounds interesting!
