Home automation is the residential extension of building automation.

It is automation of the home, housework or household activity.

Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks of gates and doors and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

Hi, my desk is situated in front of a sizeable window that receives a significant amount of sunlight mid-day. Currently, I'm using a blackout manual draw shade which effectively blocks almost all light. However, I'd like to add a semi-transparent shade that can be positioned behind the blackout one to filter light. Since I often appear on camera for work, it's essential that the light is diffused rather than completely blocked out. The ideal solution would be a smart shade capable of auto-detecting intense light, although a simpler option where a quick button press lowers the shade would be more than enough.

Suggestions?

Either custom made or just get a double curtain rod with a light filtering or sheer curtain on the inside.

A motorized a solar shade- a roller shade with a screen fabric, available in varying opacities from 1% to 10% typically. Great when down as they block the glare, but still allow you somewhat of a view out. They can be lithium battery powered. Usually with a hand held remote, but you can also add a bridge and options like automatic control according to the light, phone app, schedules, compatibility with other HA systems, including Alexa and Google Home. Obviously, the second option raises the price.

I don't know if my smart blinds can auto-detect intense sunlight, but they work great with my Alexa. Mine are from Allesin, and they have light-filtering roller shades available.
