It's no one's fault but their own.

Quite a few people were playing solo to be able to work out the heists, on day one - allocating an entire server slot for solo games because of the forced always on multiplayer is ridiculous (and probably contributed to the server problems more than needed).

Overkill has nobody to blame but themselves.

Many missing features at launch, people being kicked off of the game constantly due to server issues, even spanning multiple days.

The new patches and dev streams aren’t enough to bring trust back. Hell, Payday 2 still has a higher player count than 3.

Forced server connection/always online DRM really screwed them. It's not like they couldn't have seen that coming.
