Nobody cares about how customers abuse their boards. PCB industry has its own standards, called IPCxxxx. As long as the boards fit those standards, I can't see any blames to be put on WD's head. It is the users who subject excessive stresses on those boards.

Ok I'll bite you just bought this SSD and want to use it to fill it up and move the data elsewhere. Where is the expensive stress?

Ah yes, the customers who put these in their computers and don't touch them again before they die are surely at fault.
Components literally popping off of the M2 PCB is absurd. A lot of the M2 sticks do flex a little-to-alot when installed under a heatsink but WD should've tested for this.
Worse yet, these external SSDs are aimed at professionals.

You write this and it doesn't cross your mind that this is the reason why it's worse for non professionals as there is a smaller chance of a backup being available ....
