Don't valve release 3D models of all their parts to make it easier to swap them out/make your own?
They literally fixed every problem I had with the Deck and more.
Really tempted to sell mine and upgrade.

I’ve seen a few people wanting another usb-c port. It would be neat, but personally as long as they keep the headphone jack, I’m happy with the one port. I just want to charge and listen to stuff at the same time, which I can do on the Deck unlike most modern phones.

Yes, Valve started working on that about a year ago or so. I think it's already available in the current Steam Deck software for external monitors. Valve's involvement has been great for Linux.
Sheesh~ This kind of makes me dream of seeing a future Steam Deck (Or other Valve console) powerful enough to handle most VR games if they're going to keep on giving the Linux ecosystem a push for whatever features are important to them.

I would be surprised if this would be possible. It seems that the revision is quite substantial.
Apparently the new OLED screen will be available through iFixit
Unfortunately Gamers Nexus has stated that new OLED screen will not be compatible with the old models. Perhaps there could be a third party solution though.
Yep. They've said that basically no internal components are cross compatible between original and OLED steam decks. Everything's been redesigned internally

Valve employees have confirmed that the OLED display is incompatible with the LCD Deck's Mobo. So you can't upgrade just the screen.
This makes me so sad as my screen is slightly damaged and this would have been an amazing replacement

I'm pretty sure the new deck's screen is bigger, so I doubt that it'll fit.
From the few pictures I've seen the screen looks bigger, but the bezels smaller, so it might even out, I hope so

Cool! Though I'm wondering that they didn't update the APU from Zen2+RDNA2 to Zen4-RDNA3.
They have said they want to keep a fairly long-term performance target for game devs optimizing for the device. Consoles do the same thing. Another part of that is improving margins over time.
Component cost, engineering cost, and it would change the performance target which could cause some devs to leave the old one behind
None of the currently available RDNA3 APUs are good within their 5-15W target. They could custom design a smaller one but that would increase costs a lot and the perf benefits aren't that big when still limited by LPDDR5
If I didn't already have one that 1tb one looks great...I wonder if the oled display would work on mine though
