Not a fan of that outcome. Can you be the "best" cyclist if you don't enter, let alone win any one day races?

I mean, I can see why people want MvdP to win, but I can also see why Vingegaard got it.

His absolute worst result is third in Paris Nice and he completely destroyed everyone in TdF and the two arguably hardest one week races of the year. He could also have won the Vuelta if it wasn't for team orders.

He's unquestionably the best stage racer, but that's not what the award is for. Just crowning the TDF winner has the lazy reek of giving the winning quarterback the superbowl MVP.

I would have gone for Pog myself because he was constantly in the mix against the best stage racers AND the best one day guys this year, unprecedented in the modern era.

Mvpd I think could have done more for himself by doing more than lead outs in stage races, but he's a double monument winning double world champion for goodness' sake.
