I hate it when I come in here and I see a game that came out when I was in my twenties. Everyone should check with me first before describing anything as retro.

2010 games are considered retro by most as well, decided to ruin your day.
I'll now be crawling under the porch and dying, as is appropriate for my age.
"As my granddad did, and his one before him"
Zombies Ate My Neighbors on SNES
Also on Sega Genesis
MY CHILDHOOD
Came to say this. Great co-op fun.
I like Romhacks (in other words modding of old games) that bring Halloween themed specials to known games. I haven't looked into it this season yet, but here is an example The Quest for the Candies (Super Mario World).
Decided to give the first Silent Hill a try finally. Figured on my small MM+ and it being an older game graphically it would be easier to handle but uh..nope! Still scaring the shit out of me :)
Luigi's Mansion has both that fun and spooky ambiance, pretty short game also, perfect to play just for a few evening
There are a couple of really cool Metroid Zero Mission rom hacks called Metroid Spooky mission and Metroid Spooky Mission 2 which are high quality and fun to play on the GBA.
I also picked up the Resident Evil bundle earlier this year that I should fire up. RE4 is my jam.
Do Scooby doo games count?
They 100% count!
Night of 100 Frights is pretty well recommended!
There are others, but that's the one that comes to mind first. I think there are some couch co-op ones as well
Another World. Maniac Mansion.
Monster Bash by Apogee
One of the first games little-me could get running through those old MS-DOS commands
Halloweeny and nostalgic. Perfect for the season
OMG Apogee. Blake Stone, Secret Agent, Halloween Harry ... So many great memories.
Never did quite get that sound blaster 16 driver working with all of them though!
Hell yea! I try to play old retro games with the family as the seasons change. This year I'm going to show them some of my favorite PSX titles
- MediEvil 1 and 2
- Heart of Darkness
- Skeleton Warriors
Ghosts 'n Goblins, yo!
Fun to see games that came out what you consider "recently" referred to as retro, lol. Great game though!
Forbidden Forest on C64 (1983)
Retrogaming wise, I'm playing Parasite Eve! I'm usually not one for Halloween themed games/movies/anything either, but I've been enjoying it greatly.
3D Monster Maze on the ZX81.
Maybe not very Halloween-y but definitely scary!
Castlevania: Bloodlines on Emulator on the Nintendo Switch :)
The Splatterhouse series!
I’ve always wanted to play Eternal Dankness. Is it any good?
Yes, very unique survival horror game. You play as people from different points of history and one of my favorite moments is when a character in 1485 in a church in France has a hallucination with hospice tents from World War I, which you later see again when you play as a different character in the same church in 1916.
It's considered by many, myself included, to be one of the best horror games ever made. The fact that a sequel or even a remastered version has never been made is incredibly disappointing.
Dark room, volume max, Phantom Slayer

Silent hill 1 is a classic
Super Metroid is an unintentional horror game.
The sense of horror and dread seems intentional. Dead scientists on the ground, dead soldiers on the ground, eerie music, limited items at the onset, etc.
It's not particularly good, but now I feel like playing through Splatterhouse again.
I'd like to be in the mood to play Halloween games, but with this shitty weather I just can't.
Gf is playing Animal Crossing on Switch though.
