LONDON — British voters head to the polls Thursday for their first general election outside the European Union. But in so many ways, the Brexit dream has already died.

All the key Vote Leave characters have left the stage. Five years after winning a landslide election Boris Johnson is out of parliament, making millions from speeches and newspaper columns. Michael Gove has quit politics rather than suffer life in opposition. Dominic Cummings spends his time writing blogs about Dostoevsky, TikTok and the CIA.

As the architects of Britain’s departure from the EU contemplate a decade out of power, the country they envisaged during the 2016 referendum campaign looks further away than ever.

Thanks, have edited. Somebody did tell me that ages ago, but I'd forgotten!

Same as the shower gel, where there are lots of "flavours" and then some just labelled "MEN" with no indication of what they smell of.^[Engine oil and Swarfega]

Looks like today's "best of" post hasn't come through.

It may be worth noting that the character limit on Lemmy (at least on db0) is 50,000 characters. I know the directory posts are very very close to the limit (although that best of one shouldn't be).

The latest YouGov poll actually has the Lib Dems as official opposition in one of their predictions. It's unlikely though as things need to go particularly well for them and bad for the Tories in most of the borderline seats. I'd love to see it happen!

We should have been at Tom Jones but thanks to the stupid democratic process we’ll be stuck in a stupid windowless room watching people count stupid pieces of paper. 🙂

Ace!

Ah-ha, so it wasn't a general Lemmy problem after all... Thanks for looking into this and finding the problem!

I was going to put Bedfordshire in brackets next to that, but I forgot. I knew it could cause confusion!

I think the rest of my communities haven't seen activity lately, so I'll have to post in them first!

I'm still getting some federation weirdness, but this issue seems to be to do with general federation rather than particular actions.

This community: https://feddit.uk/c/[email protected]

Refuses to update! Some posts have been edited but the edits don't come through. New posts are added but the only way I can get them to come through to feddit.uk is to search for the full original URL.

Is there an issue here? Or is it just being very slow?
