There really ought to be more discussion on this. It's possible we're going to see an increase in these extremist attacks, and the last thing we need right now is a renewed wave of racism against Muslims. Reddit has already gone full xenophobia on it (which I suppose isn't surprising).

It's becoming clear that Hamas has ignited something very large.

I still have so many Muslim friends from last three decades and so many of them selectively believe in Islam (not believing in the violence inducing parts of quran), and i used to think that's the norm in most of the world. But now a days, specifically last five years more and more Muslim people I meet, I cannot tell which of them subscribe to the violent and mysogenistic parts of quran. Since so many of my new acquaintances do believe everything in quran. Maybe because last 5 years I'm meeting Muslims from west of Afghanistan and early in my life they were all from India, Malaysia, Indonesia etc. I don't know if it's something triggered by hamas or no.

But just yesterday I had a conversation with a prominent muslim figure in community here over beer (as ironic as that is) where me some others were saying everyone is an asshole between Israel and Hamas. And my Muslim friend that I'e know for about 2 years says, no its Israel that's a piece of shit (which is fine, I understand) but immidiately followed by all non-believers are assholes and should be "taught" . And 70% of that table is non-Muslim. I don't know the way he said it or what, but I felt scared. And this is not isolated, I've noticed this more and more in last 5 years.

I don't know the point I'm making. Just I guess I can't tell now who believes in violence and who doesn't.

Way too many Muslims, including ones I know personally, are reluctant to criticise any other Muslim regardless of their actions or beliefs. They don't seem to understand how it makes them complicit in the act and consequences.

That's really chilling. I primarily knew Muslims growing up in school, and they were all the kindest folks.

I feel that ISIS actually won in that they made people hate Muslims even more, making it much easier for terrorists to justify their attacks and for regular Muslims to hate the West for hating them or even get radicalized. The divide is much greater and it's precisely what they wanted.

Yeah it's like an endless cycle

The more Islamic terror is committed, the more people hate Muslims.

The more people hate Muslims, the easier it is to radicalize others.

So on and so forth, getting worse each time.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Two Swedish nationals were shot dead on Monday evening in central Brussels by a single armed man, in what Prime Minister Alexander de Croo of Belgium said was an act of terrorism.

Another unverified video circulating on social media, shot in selfie mode, showed a man in a high-visibility orange jacket very similar to the one worn by the shooter, speaking in Arabic and describing himself as an adherent to the Islamic State.

“So there has been a claim via social media where someone says he is the perpetrator, that he has sympathies for IS, and what is also important, he mentions the Swedish nationality of those victims,” Eric Van Der Sypt, a spokesman for the federal prosecutor’s office, told the Belgian broadcaster VTM.

Mr. Van Der Sypt, in comments to the Belga news agency, said that a third man had been injured in the attack but was out of danger.

In a post on X, Charles Michel, the president of the European Council, said that “the heart of Europe is hit by violence.”

Brussels was hit by major Islamic State terrorist attacks in 2016, which left more than 30 people dead and hundreds injured.

The original article contains 460 words, the summary contains 195 words. Saved 58%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

Is it one man who was armed or a one armed man who was armed?
