I'm usually against standalone apps for websites, but YouTube is one I definitely use enough to justify it, and Google seems intent on making the experience as miserable as possible. I use LibRedirect to send my browser to Piped instances, but FreeTube is much better for keeping track of my subscriptions.

shame it's Electron based. I'm gonna stick with Piped in my browser instead of installing a Chrome tab.

I use FreeTube as my "TV". A++ app. Hope they get bookmarked playlists working soon.

Gonna try this. Know anything similar for mobile (iOS) or Apple TV?

There's uYouPlusExtra and YouTubeRebornPlus. I've never tried either though, so I don't know how good they are.

There is yatte for iOS.

It is in appstore or test flight(recommending that version).

It is great but it relies on the piped/invidious so your mileage will vary depending on the instance you select.

Haven't seen anything for iOS, there are a few apps like LibreTube for Android though.

Am I missing something or are all video resolutions limited to 1080p?

Even Live Streams are working out of the box!

I'm really happy with it here as well, and wish I found out about it earlier.

Try a different invidious instance. The one that it defaulted to might be overloaded. It's works great. I'm loving it.
