  1. Pause to screen: You can put the entire world on pause at will, but your body will also freeze along with others, with only your mind remaining active to think and resume back time.

  2. Respawn on death: Upon dying against your will, you will be presented with an option of respawning back to your bed or any familiar safespace, and an option to confirm your death.

  3. Rapid health regeneration: Your body will quickly heal after sudden injury to full health when left undamaged for a minute.

  4. Built in HUD: You will be able to view your body's stats directly within your vision, like meters/numbers for any type of body metric, your inventory, a minimap and reminders/alerts.

  5. Skill Tree: You level up on your birthdays and acquire a skill point to spend on various types of stats and powers of your choice.

  6. Fast travel: You can instantly teleport to your personally known safe places, no matter how far away they are, except in situations where you are busy and not allowed to leave the vicinity. (By courtesy of ChrisFhey)

  7. Skill Check: While doing an action, you will be able to observe if you have the necessary stats required to perform that action successfully. (By courtesy of nieceandtows)

Note: Save/Load has been intentionally left out since it is essentially more OP than all of the other options listed here.

Edit: changed title from 'superpower' to 'game feature' + misspellings + 6th and 7th point

Just give me saving and loading, and I don’t need anything else. I can defeat the final boss with lvl 1 sword if I get enough retries.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I considered this save & load option, but I thought it would be too OP compared to the others

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Save/Load. Because it is the most OP and basically negates most of the suggestions given. It's effectively time travel, assuming I also retain knowledge of a previously "played game."

And if I'm not allowed that... Modding. So I can add that feature back in. :P

The sleep mechanic from Elder Scrolls. Being able to sleep when I want, for how long I want. Just need to make sure there's no enemies nearby.

It would be horrifying to go to bed next to your spouse only to have that notification pop up.

HUD would be a great feature. Apart from save/load, another feature I would really love is the success percentage for various actions, like in the fallout games. If I can see what I’ll get for my different comments, I’ll know when to shut my mouth.

I'm not accustomed to the Fallout franchise and its game mechanics. Could you elaborate? I'm guessing based on the name that it is some sort of perk obtained for performing an action in a perfect manner.

Basically you can see if your response would work or if you need more skill points to make it work

Something like this

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Wow, I did think of this idea, but I didn't know what it was actually called by the gaming community. I could add this if you want.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I don't know the exact name either. I think it's called Skill Check. Before doing an activity, you can see if you have enough skill (speech, intelligence, strenght, dexterity, luck, etc.) for that. You can add it to the list.

  1. Absolutely not. I just know eventually I'd get stuck on pause and slowly lose my mind over eternity.

  2. The fear of death is important to me. It helps keep me degenerate adjacent.

  3. Too noticable. Once the kids in your middle school figure it out they'll use you as a test dummy and that would only get worse with time.

  4. I'm online too much as it is.

  5. Slow, steady progress as you get older but without the hassle of having to level up manually? Perfect.

This was a tough pic between Skill Tree and Built in HUD, but I'm going with Skill Tree, it seems the most useful in my opinion. It would be cool to know what's going on with your body when you feel funny though

No fall damage

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

The ability to sell literally anything to an NPC infinitely.

Also where is /r/outside on lemmy?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Certain movements making you invincible for a moment, like sitting/standing up animations from old 3d games. I don't say this because I tripped after sitting on a bench for too long.

Are the skill tree points retroactive? If so, that one. If not, I think I would go with rapid health regen. Anything that doesn't outright kill me repaired in a minute would be pretty neat.

[–] Kokanee08 1 points 1 year ago

I was thinking skill tree too if it was retroactive, but I think I would want to see what the skills were too, to make sure they were worthwhile.

If it's just minor improvements in the skill tree then I would probably go with HUD or health regen.

As a side note, I wonder how lifting weights would interact with rapid health regen? Could I lift heavy for an hour, rest for a minute, and my muscles would be "repaired" and then I could workout again? Could be a hack to get jacked quick

Teleport to Friend (limit of 5 times a day).

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Built in HUD for sure. It would be great if I could just check how I’m doing like a Sim. I need an inventory. Let me change my party members

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

quicksave/quickload plz

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

The ability to un-flag PvP

You and your stuff can't be interacted with by other people if you don't want to.

I picked this under the assumption that whatever I wanted might be usable by others as well.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

No fall damage would be nice.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Is Creative Mode an option? I guess there would need to be some limitations, because then you'd just be playing God after a while.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

i guess the rewind from life is strange would be way too op. if that's not an option. i'd probably go for the health regen

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Respawning would be cool under the right conditions. By that I mean, if I die at 100 I don't want to then respawn as a 100 year old in my bed from that morning just to die again.

But if I could pick a previous save point that'd be good.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I just want the ability to gain XP/skills and keep them forever. I'm tired of having to exercise every day to stay in shape!

Or the benefit of being able to eat even when my health is at max and having no negative side effects.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Real-time with pause

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Fast travel and quick save / load are my top picks I think.

Edit: I think I may have misunderstood the question, but I stand with my choices.
If picking from your list, I guess respawn on death would be neat.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago

Fast travel is a great idea! If I may, can I add it to the above list of options?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'd take Skill Tree, it sounds so exciting to use points to improve automatically what I choose. Though it'd probably be impossible for me to make up my mind and I'd end up keeping all my points for later... I'd definitely never use them for fear of missing out on all the other options. Thank God this doesn't exist.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

If it has to be from this list... The HUD. Having a chronic disease, much more convenient than having to do yearly check-ups just to know if I'm still in remission or if I need some new intervention. Just a notification saying "Your crohn's disease condition has advanced to level 2" letting me know it's time to call the doctor.

If not from this list, then video-game style cooking-crafting. Mix the tail of a random lizard with the stomach of a weird bull to make yourself into a god for ten brief minutes.
