Protestors occupied Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) office on Monday demanding that lower chamber of Congress reauthorize federal spending on the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

“Pass PEPFAR now, McCarthy! Pass PEPFAR now, McCarthy!” chanted the protestors before eventually being arrested by members of the Capitol Police.

Now watch as Republicans insist that these protesters are just as bad as the Jan 6 protestors, and should be brought up on insurrection and sedition charges....

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

No, they'll insist that that January 6th people were peaceful tourists who should all be freed while these people are terrorists who deserve the death penalty.

Of course, the occupation of a Congressional office is wrong (and particularly stupid after 1/6) and these people should face appropriate charges and (assuming convictions) prison time. That said, the 1/6 people were committing much worse crimes.

...Why is it that these hyper-partisan people always think it's okay if they do it, but not others? I want any and all people who break laws to be arrested/tried. I don't care what "side" they are on.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

Agreed. Whatever laws they may be breaking, charge them. If people want to protest, go for it. But people should be fully aware by now that protesting inside of the capital is not the place.

How many police officers did these protestors kill?

Do you think I'm excusing this in any way or something? You just looking for a reason to take offense to my comment?

buddy you're clearly drawing an equivalence between these things, and if they're equivalent I expect 6 police to be dead

You need better reading comprehension.

Cognitive dissonance, lack of ability to see outside their perspective

Impressive how quickly they were arrested. I was under the impression that this sort of thing took years!

Only if you're rich. Or pretend to be rich.

Republican House majority have argued that a portion of the $7 billion spent annually on the program ends up in the hands of organizations that also perform abortions.

Letting people die because you are pro-life.

Not that I necessarily agree with this groups methods, but I guarantee they'll get a harsher sentence than the traitors on J6 who tried to overthrow the government.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago

Well, if I've learned anything from the Freedom Caucus, then these people shouldn't be charged because they were obviously just patriotic tourists.

Of course, I'm sure the right will continue to insist that that January 6th Insurrectionists were peaceful tourists while decrying these people as violent woke antifa terrorists.

McCarthy is gladly continuing Ronald Reagan's genocide

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago

Was that a BLM flag next to a thin blue line flag? I feel like they should either cancel each other out or explode or something.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago

I'll bet they didn't smear shit everywhere during their occupation.
