This is what you probably already know but honestly, the best way is to know someone with an invite and if you don’t know someone irl, try to get involved in an online community.

Another way is to watch for open sign ups. Some private trackers have applications, like MyAnonamouse. Once you’re in, check out the forums for invite requirements to other private trackers. You often need to climb a few ranks to gain access to the invite sections of the forum.

Best of luck to you!

Open sign-ups is the way. Trackers with open sign-ups will usually be a bit more lenient on ratio and rules, in my experience, so they're also a good place to learn how private trackers work without getting kicked out for a silly mistake.

Get a 2tb HDD and download all the freeleech torrents and then seed forever. Most private trackers have a bonus system which you get for long-term seeding. Eventually you use bonus points for upload.

Work your way up on the rankings until you are high enough to get into the invite forums. Repeat the process until you get into all the top tier trackers (who never have open signups)

MTV/MAM/DDC are all good places to start

When I started to get into private trackers I did the following, which worked out really well in my case:

  1. Basic research (back then mostly via re*dit) on what the most popular trackers are and select the ones I want to join
  2. Be prepared that being part of private trackers also means that one has to contribute back to the community by seeding
  3. Hang out in their irc or discord channels and either wait for open invites or just be nice to other people and get invites from them (just trying to be part of the community)
  4. be patient, it took a few days to get into the first one and after a month or two I was already in all of the trackers I wanted to be in

It was actually not much effort, I had to go through only one interview which was easy to prepare for and not very challenging. All in all it was definitely worth it and I'm glad I brought up that little bit of patience

Trackers with open sign-ups are a good place to get started, also trackers with application forms are good for starting out too. If you have friends who are into private trackers and they know you are trustworthy and they have invites, that's another way.

Find the tracker group you want, then seed and suck up to them. It's a shallow system.

I would also like to know

That's the best part, you can't

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You absolutely can. A good portion of popular trackers have periodicall open signup events. Torrentleech has fairly often open signups. It's big so it isn't that easy to build up your ratio when you're a drop in an ocean, but when you do it can open doors for some more prestigious trackers, although TL should be enough in 99% of cases if you aren't into some (less popular) niche content. Watch r/opensignups on reddit if it's still alive and soon enough you'll be on too many trackers.

I think /r/opensignups closed after the blackout

Theres r/trackersignups and the telegram channel r/opensignups migrated to of the same name.

Thanks for the info!
I just checked trackersignups and found something spicy :)

It seems like r/opensignups telegram channel is just a bot posting the contents of /r/opensignups to it. So it is dead as well.

Try searching it on telegram for the one with the deluge icon.
