I know everyone's down on the scheme but I really think if the pass rush comes through it could plug the deficiency against the deep ball and give us an above average unit this year.

What's our weakness? MLB as usual? Strong safety/ slot corner?

I think safety is our weakness on defense but I do agree if our front is healthy with Gary, Smith, Van Ness, Inagbare as rotational players it’ll shorten the field for opposing offenses and help the safety position.

I'm just not sure if Joe Barry is the guy. He's never been the guy anywhere in his career it seems, but he runs the type of defense that Shanahan et al like and so that's the big reason he's there. The player talent is undeniable, but I'm just worried about Barry.

That seems like the consensus view. I'm rooting for a ~50 sack season. That would be super fun.
