Is that body font comic sans? This is beautiful.
This is the right kind of punishment.
Fucking teach them...
Literally, teach the 10 commandments:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Commandments
Republicans violate that shit all the time, they use religion as a sword and a shield and we...
Say everyone is entitled to their beliefs.
If they're using the ten commandments as a weapon, and they want to just leave it laying all over the place, pick it up and whack them in the head with it.
If they did teach them I might be less angry about this (only slightly so). They say this is about historical significance in our society but then there's zero requirement to talk about how they're significant.
If my kid was older I'd give him a long list of questions about adultery or taking the Lord's name in vain to use during class.
If they did teach them
From your post I had assumed you were a teacher...
If you're not, then you're not going to be able to control anything else you're asking about.
The only point would be asking for suggestions to tell teachers, and in that case I don't understand why you'd want one that they're already doing?
I just don't understand the point of any of this...
Those are all great but I think the bill is clear enough that the poster should be only text. Different letter sizes does sound like a viable way to maliciously comply.
I feel like having one that displays the commandments in English and as many other languages as possible would piss them off.
If it doesn’t state size, just donate a notecard or a post-it with the text on it. It’s small unobtrusive and “technically” complies with the law. As long as it’s hung in a location that people can read it if desired then there isn’t much room for them to complain. At that size it’s also incredibly easy for people to ignore since it’s small enough that people aren’t going to be able to read it while walking by.
There's a minimum size requirement.
Dang.
Another idea--any chance they were short sighted enough to not include any limits to the number?
You can order 1000 business cards from VistaPrint for $40. If they're required to display every one that is donated...
There's a minimum size it needs to be and it has a vague requirement of it being legible from anywhere, which I would say is impossible in and of itself because posters are flat, so if you're standing along the same wall as the poster there's no way you could read it.
Does it have to be an english translation? Can it be the oldest known version?
Doesn't say what language to use but it does basically say "use the text in this section".
Do they stipulate the 10 commandments of what in particular?
Bill states the exact text to use.
There was someone who was making all kinds of creative posters like this. It was mentioned on the Friendly Atheist Podcast and newsletter. I tried a quick search of the site, but didn’t find it right away. Good stuff.
I am thinking about the power of the internet. We could target one mostly white wealthy high school (Highland Park for example) amd just absolutely saturate them with posters. Imagine 25 million posters at one high school. If 25,000 people each donated 1000 posters, we could fill their halls to the point where there is no room for anything else.
I'll reread the text but I think it's limited to one poster per classroom. Still, if it's a "wealthy school" I have waaaaaaay less sympathy for their plight and I'd chip in to give them a 10ft x 6ft banner. Piss off the rich parents and things will change quickly. Sadly though, private schools are exempt.
Maybe someone with experience in making ambigrams can help.
