Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Republicans are undermining the Government Accountability Office, the century-old agency that roots out waste, fraud and abuse.

This is telling of their agenda. This should be an international headline.

Pretty sure it’s a bullet point in P2025, and I continue to be baffled at how people are surprised when they follow the playbook they said they were going to follow

GAO and the CBO are two organizations that each exist to do a non partisan reality check on existing, and proposed government budgets and accounting.

The voting population idiots that love the idea of DOGE apparently do not know these agencies exist...? And that jamming in a third, hastily crafted government entity to replicate the tasks of two already existing agencies... is like the definition of poorly managed government bloat?

The actual Republican politicians know the CBO and GAO exist, they just obviously hate them because they so very, very often do the formal, sccounting equivalent of calling bullshit on more or less all of their public rhetoric around budgets, defecits, and projected growth/shrinkage of the economy.

Just... I can never ever ever take another conservative seriously for the rest of my life. All their "worries" about big, unaccountable government, waste, fraud, and abuse, following the constitution, and fiscal responsibility were all just a load of bullshit. I mean, I always knew they were hypocrites, but congratulations, you blew up everything you claimed to believe in so that you could make a handful of already breathtakingly rich and powerful people even more rich and powerful at the expense of everyone else. But you managed to feed a few brown people into the shredder in the process, I guess, so I hope you're fucking satisfied.

It's wild that they've dropped all pretense of believing in any of this stuff, and it makes me hopeful that, in the future, if some new left movement arises, when the cons inevitably screech "but the constitution! But the budget!" we can just answer "lol. Lmao." And move on with life.

Make it make sense!

Just kidding. It makes perfect sense. All signs point to totalitarianism.

Capping things off before the long holiday weekend came a social media post from White House budget chief Russ Vought, publicly belittling the agency for its findings that the administration illegally withheld money Congress had previously approved for supporting electric vehicle infrastructure.

Are we just done referring to Vought for what he is? One of the key heritage foundation members responsible for project 2025?

What he is is fascist fucking filth.

Can't get away with all that doge (pronounced doggie) money laundering if someone is actually investigating fraud.
