From what i understand, having their territorial instincts triggered is actually really stressful for cats.

Makes sense, it's really stressful for me when my territorial instincts are triggered too.

In cat-world, this is Armageddon. But when you think about it, the stakes are pretty low.

Do you think humans feel like this sometimes?

My dog with a dog we've never met. When we go for a walk he'll smell that other dog and start tracking like crazy and he'll start barking at cars that pass by... We know that's what's going on since he was doing the same thing with a dog we had met at our previous address and both of them would go crazy whenever they came face to face...

Some sort of feline entanglement, hissy action at a distance.
With the added feature that each cat sees itself as "cat" and the other cat as "anti-cat".

so like there is one cat in our neighborhood that like everyone hates, even the people. even its owners. its name is snowball because it's a white siamese, but the thing is a bastard. goes around the neighborhood peeking in windows and if it sees anyone it starts attacking the windows.
