Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Is this an AI upscale of the original meme? Walter is not that smooth.

Edit: thanks for the fix!

I am the one who moisturizes.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Ah, didn't notice. Fixed it.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 days ago

Now I want to see the original.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Totally is. And a shittier than normal one. Check out the metal-rimmed glasses on one side, and unrimmed on the other. Makes it unevenly sized.

AI slop 100%

Edit: OP found a better template and changed it

baby walter ~ 🍼👗👘🏞️🦄

[–] festnt 9 points 3 days ago

i did not know walter used to be a unicorn wearing a dress

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

It's the remake. In this one, walter is the student, and Jesse is a rebellious teacher.

i have two very thin pillows and they're not enough, but i don't have a third one that's also like them

[–] [email protected] 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Ah, so the German pillow.

Every time I got a hotel in Germany the pillows were big but thin, and folding them in half is too much fluff. Now when I go to Germany I bring my own inflatable camping pillow.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago

Yeah I hate these (old school) pillows as well. You're supposed to scoot the filling up and lay your shoulders on the lower empty part.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Me before I learned that pillows generally come in 3 thicknesses and 3 levels of firmness.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Pillows generally come in infinite levels, you can add or remove as much filling as you like

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

This is unironically true for the Mediflow water-filled pillow, which is a) amazing and b) guaranteed to knock your pillow fight opponent right the fuck out

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Have you ever heard of a pillow called Dakimakura? You should get one. Everyone should

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

It's called Seitenschläferkissen in German! Surprisingly it's really good for schlafing on your Seite, and you can get normal covers, too.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Even as a german and a 'Seitenschläfer' i will call it by its proper name 😤 /s On a real note though i once had a Seitenschläferkissen and it was really firm. My japanese daki is much softer, which i prefer.

Fuck you now that is my search history hahaha

Oh god, Amazon is gonna start suggesting that thing to me everyday huh?

Jokes aside body pillows are great, especially for side sleepers. Can improve sleep posture (a common back pain cause) and doesn't need to have an anime character on them. The fact that they can is certainly a bonus though.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

TBH while I do agree that it's generally more comfy (especially for my legs), it actually worsens my posture (makes me assume a position with a more rounded back).

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

I mean you do not have to get a cover with girls or boy on it. You can get simple colours or design your own. It is just really a great pillow tbh.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Just get an adjustable pillow...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Me cranking the handle on my pillow to inflate it at 3am

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Lmao that is a great mental image. But no there are pillows with multiple layers inside them that you can take out to adjust the total thickness. You can also put softer and harder or a combination of both in to get exactly what you want.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wait that's actually such a good idea

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It is and this is the second time i have told people on lemmy about the existence of this wonderful invention :)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Thank you for your service 🫡

I feel this meme in my busted neck :(
