Welcome to Saltpunk Strength Syndicate.

This is my personal workout lab. I'm already in pretty great shape and healthy, but now that I'm retired, I finally have the time to chase every dumb fitness idea I never had time for.

I document my clanging, banging, lifting, failing, experimenting, and whatever else I feel like doing—because I earned the right to screw around with it.

Saltpunk means stubborn, scarred, and still showing up.

Oh and Lemmy, I'm still here. Ya didn't get rid of me. :)

Working with a trainer, we have been doing bent over sandbag swings, kinda like this: https://www.menshealth.com/uk/fitness/a753975/sandbag-swing/

Bend over at the hip until the hamstrings are engaged, swing the sandbag up, resist the sandbag coming down so it doesn't hit the legs. 4 sets, 15 reps

I've noticed two days after this makes my ankle sore, and sometimes a very sore back (the muscle can be tetchy for a few days).

What is the right way to improve so this exercise doesn't take me out of commission? Or is this soreness just a part of building up the muscles/ligaments?
