Some other doctor would probably take care of them. And if they had to go to the ER? Then two other doctors would care for them. And if those needed medical attention too? 4, 8, 16, 32, ad infinitum, millions apon millions of doctors all caring for each other, one big happy family of doctors.

Except for the surgeon who performed a self-appendectomy, they probably go to a different hospital to avoid gossip.

Unless it’s an embarrassing “I fell” syndrome incident I suspect they’d probably go to the one they know as they can probably pull strings and get better/quicker treatment
