Originally a nickname based on the "Skonk Oil Factory" from Lil' Abner, the Skunk Works is the [unofficial] name of Lockheed's research and development arm. The Skunk Works has been responsible for numerous technical innovations, especially pertaining to aeronautics.

This community is dedicated to the best examples of DIY engineering. To the handyman (or handywoman) in all of us. Maybe you're proud of your creation or maybe you're serving up a cautionary tale. Whether mechanical, electrical, or architectural, if you've built something to make your life easier, or just because you could, no matter if it belongs in the Skunk Works hall of fame or in an episode of the Red Green Show, we want to see it.
Rules
I've had a little 12 ft (3.28m) aluminum boat with a 6 HP Johnson outboard for years. The motor is big enough to get from point A -> B but not big enough to push the boat up on plane if I'm the only one in it.
I try to put as much weight at the bow as I can but it's usually still not enough. Yesterday, I was going fishing for a bit and I thought, "I wonder what would happen if I put this cinder block up front?"
It worked great. I don't know why I didn't try it years ago.
I have been that cinderblock for my dad many a time.
If the women don't find you handsome, at least they can find you handy.
May I suggest tying a rope to it. You can use it as an anchor. An ankle makes a great tie off point.
