All I picture is two rich babies going "no you!" "No, you!!"

It also matters that one baby started it.

Didn’t china lend America loads of money after the banking collapse 2008

It looked like America was bankrupt so china lent them some money so they could still afford to buy Chinese goods

Pretty sure China is the only country that could withstand a drawn out fight. At the very least the country that could last the longest.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago

China still has the ability to deal with the whole rest of the world. And so does the EU, or any other country. If the US insists on continuation of their suicidal course, the world will mostly arrange around that black hole on the north American continent.

As long trade around the US works, the rest of the world can watch while eating popcorn.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

At this point the whole world gonna burn together

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I don't think that the whole world would burn. The US is not as important as they think.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

They actually are. They are by far the biggest economy, Americans buy way more stuff then people in other countries. It is why every country wants access to the US market.

Can we the rest of the world survive without them yes but it well hurt.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

The US is about 12.7% of the world’s GDP.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

Even if you’re the biggest kid in the playground, all the other kids together can still beat you up.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

I dunno about that. Over on a specific sub they are all chanting and drooling on how China will surely bend the knee.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

It really depends on whether the US negotiates trade agreements with other countries or not.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

At this point it’s globally, and there’s no hope the Americans can come out in a position anywhere near where they were before. This is not good.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

Nope, we'll have to beg and plead to get far less favorable trade deals in the future if we ever manage to get rid of our fascist rot.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Pfft. The U.S. has been around for over 2 centuries. How long has China been around?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

With its current governmental system? About 75 years.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

I always like how people consider modern day countries as if they are the same entity from hundreds of years ago (or longer). Yes there is a through line, but the land China currently occupies has been many different things over human history.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

China is a net importer of food, energy, and farmng inputs; they are very dependent on the global market. They may survive a US-China trade war, but a global recession is gonnaess that up as much as the rest of us. Russia might survive, as they are already cut off, but there are plenty of issues with their war time economy.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Russia might not. Oil prices are crashing which is ruining their only remaining reliable income stream.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

tRump is entering the find out stage, does anyone think he will notice?

[–] Lucidlethargy 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No.

He's one of the few that will never suffer, along with Elon and all the other rich assholes.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Besides, he knew it would crash the economy. He just thinks it will work out in our favor because reasons.

  1. Crash economy

  2. ???

  3. Profit!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

So 0 is " buy put options" and 2 is "crash it again just to be sure".
