  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

It's such a ridiculous thing to do, he clearly doesn't understand soft power

He neither understands nor cares about it. Which is orangeboi’s stance on most things, if we’re being honest.

Um.....guys? Are we going to talk about this? Because....seriously. He's trying to shut down, silence, and censor media. That's literally a fascist move. That's straight from the fascist playbook. The nazi's LITERALLY did this. So instead, Radio London would broadcast in french. They'd open and close each broadcast with a series of nonsensical phrases they called "personal messages". What was otherwise disguised as the station listeners calling the station with messages like "Pierre dit bonjour" or "Pierre says hello". Just seemingly innocent phrases that listeners would call in, so other listeners could hear them. Personal messages. And on one random night, a night that could have been any other night, a very special personal message went out.

"Blessent mon coeur d'une langueur monotone"

Which if you didn't know it's meaning, would seem harmless enough, if not a bit random. However, those in the french resistance knew it well. It was their signal to grab arms and join the fight. Because this random night just happened to be June 5th 1944. A night now famous among those who know their history. However you may also know it by another name. D-Day.

I bring all this up to mention the fact that all of that was necessary to do on Radio London, because all radio stations in France, were now occupied and ruled my the nazi's at that time. The nazi's shut down and censored any actual French media.

Which is what trump is doing right now. Shutting down and censoring media, while being the president of a nation that has for literal centuries prided itself on being the home of free speech. I just want you to consider the irony here, and take in the full scale of what's happening right now. We are actively taking more and more steps each day to becoming a full on fascist state. Does anyone not see this? Is everybody forgetting history? I feel like it's obvious. It's on full display. They're not attempting to hide it. They're just going through with it.

It's reminding me of that scene with heath ledger as joker saying if you execute a plan, and somebody unexpectly dies, everybody loses their mind. But if you state a plan is intended to have a few deaths, then nobody panics when people die.

I feel like that's what's going on right now. In 2024 we learned about project 2025. Details leaked. And now that people are used to the ideas, they accept them more easily, despite knowing the actual plans are terrible plans that shouldn't be plans. But they ARE plans. So everybody is just going along with it.

One of the US-funded international networks in President Trump’s crosshairs is going to court to contest his shutdown order.

This is not the time to cede terrain to the propaganda and censorship of America’s adversaries. We believe the law is on our side and that the celebration of our demise by despots around the world is premature.
