Yes it does. It says so right there. Just no launcher.

Later on it says there's a "lite embedded version" though

am i the only one that ignores every assassins creed release since the early ones?

I haven't played since blackflag, and I've not regretted it

Syndicate and unity are nice actually but so bad about optimization performance

this is the only one ive been meaning to play. heres hoping it aged well.

I've played it about 5 or 6 years ago for the first time and I loved it, but I don't know how it would have aged since then. I think they're making a remastered version though, if they don't fuck it up it could be worth waiting for.

It does require you to use Ubisoft Connect, but it's already embedded with the Steam download. You also still need to link your Connect account to Steam.

It just doesn't require you to download & install it separately.

It does require a Ubisoft account to be connected

Good step. Can they go back and also remove the launcher requirements for some of their older games too?

This is a falsely misleading article, the launcher and login requirement are all there, theyre just not a separate install anymore.

Recently launched Sims 4 on my Linux System and was surprised to see that it worked despite EA App/Origin/orwhateveritscalled not being installed :3

What are the chances that the launcher gets patched in after release? Wouldn't be the first time.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Actually read the whole post. The launcher is already embedded and you have to link you ubi account to your steam account.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

The way I understood it is that the "lite" version of the launcher is embedded in the main menu of the game. I remember 2K games doing the same thing for some titles and adding the full launcher in a patch a few months after release.

I honestly don't understand how these publishers don't understand that foregoing their tumorous launchers and trackers would lead to a ridiculous amount of good publicity and a much-needed uptick in everyone's perception of them....

Yeah i assume ubisoft thinks they can get some of that good will by embedding their drm straight into their games where the layfolk will notice it less.

Clearly it worked for the idiots who titled this article and reposted it.
