Summary

An unvaccinated child in Texas has died from measles, marking the first U.S. measles-related death in a decade.

The outbreak, centered in Gaines County, has infected 124 people, mostly unvaccinated children, and spread into New Mexico.

At least 18 people have been hospitalized. Health officials stress the importance of the MMR vaccine, which remains highly effective.

Despite past measles elimination in the U.S., declining vaccination rates have led to outbreaks. Officials anticipate more cases and urge vaccinations to prevent further spread.

I saw that too. At the cabinet meeting he said

Incidentally, there have been four measles outbreaks this year. In this country last year there were 16. So, it’s not unusual. We have measles outbreaks every year

It was the first time anyone died in this country from that stupid disease since 2015. And the first time a child died from it since 2003. Not unusual my ass. The damn thing was eliminated in this country in 2000 because of the vaccine. Now morons are bringing it back. We're going backwards because of nothing other than stupidity.

I would love to see an interview with the parents of this child with the question: "well, was it worth it?"

Turns out Republicans are actually cool with abortion, but only after it's been born.

They make up for it by getting ahead of the game in other aspects: like they'll send a kid into the workforce as soon as they're old enough to hold a butcher's knife.

...or is that just a different approach to performing the abortion? Sometimes it's not clear.

If only there was something they could do... But I suppose Darwin has a way of evening things out.
