Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
  • 5. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Language/язык/Sprache

[–] [email protected] 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

He pulls out a vapour thin install of puppy linux on his machine

[–] [email protected] 46 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Not really enjoying being called a psychopath for using Fedora...

[–] [email protected] 41 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It’s ok, we have a great lawyer.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 5 days ago

Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark!

How do you do, fellow Linux enthusiasts?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 days ago

Real. Thought I'd move up and try arch, sudo and nano stopped working after the root changed. God bless the maintainers of mint

Tom Cruise stunt double checking in

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

I wasn’t sure how to interpret it because that is actually Ben Stiller dressed as Tom Cruise.

I use Arch BTW. And my jeans are quite large

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 days ago

I have little patience for digital systems anymore. I want my computer to "just work" the same way I expect a shovel to just work. I prefer Debian.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 days ago

Why of course, that is me, the chad, I am him.

    They're the 'different' ones:

    • BSD: not Linux
    • NixOS: No FHS
    • Alpine: No GNU
[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Pffft FHS is inefficient ancient technology.

clocking in for the legendary few nixians

Umm excuse me where’s the transgender programmer socks? I don’t see it there..

[–] [email protected] 17 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Considering I'm a woman that uses arch, I hope that's not what I look like blobcat, glare

I use Fedora, and I have no idea how to interpret my representation here.

Maybe because IBM bought Redhat so they're saying it's corporate? Just a wild guess. I use Debian, and not sure why that makes me the hide the pain meme.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 6 days ago (1 children)

The pain is in your back and your knees.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 days ago

    Well, ya got me there.

It's missing arch and programming socks.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 6 days ago

Finally some meme recognition for those of us that want to be β€œcool arch users” but don’t want to spend any effort getting there!

(Fucking love EOS right now. )

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

EOS is a godsend, I tend to reinstall my os after every semester and found that with pure arch is a pain in the ass. Just stick that eos iso and boom, 90% of what I need, just run 2 scripts for installing my programs and the zen kernel and I'm golden

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

To be fair I have used pure Arch before but EOS gets me everything I like about Arch just easier
