Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Basically boils down to:

"The separation was caused by their want to separate."

Yeah, no shit. But why did they want to separate?

The war of states rights. Sure.

The states right to do what, precisely?

Answer the question.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Uh uh uh uh, states rights bro, it was about a lot of things really but yeah it was mainly about the states rights

I love that they try to keep running around in circles as if we don't know for sure that they're just identifying with other racists.

They're cowards.

But to answer your question, well it was about a lot of things, it was mainly a states rights issue, and they didn't want their way of life to change. That way of life may or may not have been exploitation and torture of an entire race of people, but I'm not gonna say slavery although we both know for a 100% fact that was the main reason, because I'm a dumb turd and I like backing racists openly but I'm too much of a coward to just say it out loud because I am aware it's morally bankrupt.

Oh I know. I just like setting up the rhetorical bear trap. It’s so easy.

I know I’m preaching to the choir here <3

They always do the uh uh uh well mainly and try to minimize the fuck out of it, it's as funny as it is sad

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Ummmmm... To have rights. Do you have something against rights? So much for the tolerant left!

The US still has slavery even today with the private prisons forcing inmates to work.

I like how there's the technically true but misleading B, and then the strictly untrue D that is still actually way closer to the actual character of events

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

It's a vocabulary test, if the word of the week was suffrage it's D. Must be a course in Floridian business English preparing you for smalltalk with your colleagues.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 month ago

Why did they want to secede from the union Florida?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

Setting the obviously racist inane bullshit aside, what the fuck does this question have to do with vocabulary? Those are all concepts expressed phrases, a concept entirely different that vocabulary.

[–] the_crotch 10 points 1 month ago

"attack fort Sumter" is the correct answer

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It wasn't "insisting on their right to secede" it was "attacking Fort Sumter to exercise a supposed right to secede"

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

This. 100% this. 💯🔥
