Feels like the hiring freeze might have been a poor idea in general, but particularly in a chronically understaffed field like air traffic controller. Blaming DEI, when the cause of the crash was grave human error on the part of the whitest heli pilot in existence, was another unforced error. Scapegoating rather than reforming and strategizing is portentous

The air-traffic control tower in the nation’s capital is authorized to have 28 controllers, the agency said.

This is supposed to be spelled C-A-P-I-T-O-L.

The spelling with A-L refers to money involved in starting a business endeavor.

Capital is a city. Capitol is a building.

Oh I guess I was wrong. My bad

This started under the Obama admin, and the towers have been understaffed for a very long time. It's only now that there was an incident. This could've easily have happened two weeks ago, but it didn't.

Maybe Trump shouldn't have made it worse then...

Maybe he fired him because he was creating dangerous problems like chronic understaffing?

The issue actually goes back to Reagan. The professional air traffic controllers organization (PATCO) went on strike in 1981 because of understaffing, long hours, poor working conditions and low pay.

Reagan fired them all and achieved two results: 1. set the precident that understaffing, long hours, poor working conditions and low pay were just fine for American air safety, and 2. started the long grind of devaluing skilled labor and erosion of workers rights in this country. We are experiencing the cascading consequences today.

You know that's not why.

Stop making excuses for his abuses of power

It's happened twice now.
