Should I be just as cautious in downloading Youtube Videos just like using VPN when torrenting? (zerobytes.monster)

Basically, if I use YT-dlp/Stacher or online youtube downloaders, should I use VPN, anti-virus and don't go crazy on the downloading of youtube videos? If I don't take the same precautions, could I be served with papers by my internet provider or YouTube?
