For anyone still on FB, why? What is the benefit?

I see. You enjoy the illusion of being connected without actually connecting. That’s what unsolicited holiday cards used to be for. I guess FB is at least an improvement from an environmental standpoint.

The size and power consumption of facebook data centers makes me think that the cards industry was more environmentally friendly.

I thought about that after I posted. Seems like a good shower thoughts post. I think you are correct.

Keeping in touch with family and friends around the world. There just hasn't been another platform that so many people are on, and that works so well (from communication aspect, not from the shenanigans).

My phone works well for that

Continuing to support what may be the very best example of what the very worst kind of corporate citizen looks like in the digital age isn't enough? (and no, I didn't forget about twitter)

Out of curiosity what makes twitter less bad than FB? I don’t have enough information to rank. It seems like the king twit is more overt with his intentions while Zuck likes to play it closer to the vest. In reality it’s probably different sides of the same coin

Primarily not having a history that looks like this. Over time, yes it will be just as bad or worse now that Musk is in charge and Trump is in office. Facebook has taken every opportunity to be the worst possible corpo citizen during their entire existence. Finding hot coeds was literally the original goal. It will take some time for Twitter to catch up.

I appreciate your response and bring receipts. If I knew how to cross post I would credit you when using this information in the future.

Absolutely no worries anyhow but thank you! Have a nice day!

Are we going to get an article of every single thing you won't get banned for saying on Facebook now? At the very least I expect to see one about every oppressed group.

"Facebook now allows users to call black people monkeys"

"Facebook now allows users to say all Muslims are terrorists"

"Facebook now allows you to refer to gay couples as pedophile groomers"

It's like these writers are using what might happen as an opportunity to say their own shitty things. It's like they're giving suggestions.

Sometimes It seems that for Facebook, all people are just household tools...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Might have to revive my old Facebook account just to tell the women I know voted Trump to shut up and get off Facebook as they're clearly household objects every time they post their insane bullshit
