I rented a converted van on a trip up and down the west coast. I love the redwood forest section. The drive is also interesting.

Oh nice! Iโve visited the redwoods last roadtrip and they were pretty incredible. If you liked those you need to visit Sequoia!
In the Summer of 1989 I drove a โ74 VW Westy from Florida to Guatemala, following the Gulf Coast on the way down and the Pacific coast on the way back, up to Acapulco, then headed to Mexico City and back home. Took 2 months and was one of the best experiences of my life. No way would I try that today, however.
We did Washington DC to Cleveland to Chicago to Minneapolis in three legs. We'd never been to Cleveland or Chicago so thought it would be fun to see a bit of the area and sleep instead of driving straight through.
Cleveland was pretty nice. We did some trails and saw the rock and roll museum.
Chicago was awesome; we'll plan another trip just to see more of the city. The big silver bean is amazing, and the millennium Park around it was very pretty.
