So you're just gonna have a teacher arrested by ICE agents in front of their students? Or god forbid another one of their classmates? That does nothing but scare and demoralize civilians. You can always wait and arrest the person once they are off campus. What are they gonna do teleport? Climb down a fucken storm drain? Just excuses to be an authoritarian despot, and stain this country for Putin.

That does nothing but scare and demoralize civilians.

You say that like it's a bad thing; to them, it's a feature.

You could use this as a philosophical or ethical litmus test. The idea behind not arresting immigrants in hospitals is that we don't want someone suffering or dying because they wouldn't go to a hospital for fear of being arrested. Illegal immigration isn't a capital crime. Eliminating that policy basically says that we're okay with someone here illegally dying rather than getting care.

True that. Illegal immigration isn't even a felony, it's a misdemeanor.

When someone says that we need to start taking people's children away forever, or send them into the desert without water to die, because they're illegal immigrants, they're revealing what they want to be able to do to people, for their own reasons. Enforcing the law simply has nothing to do with it.

Exactly.

Honestly, the issues associated with illegal immigration are so overblown. The country as a whole likely has a net benefit from it. But the right has convinced so many people that it's the cause of all our problems, so people have gotten comfortable demonizing and dehumanizing them.

Morals aside, untalented people are always in a rush to tear down what others have built. They find it easier to destroy than to create...
