Comic panels taken out of comics so we can make fun of them!! We love the golden age stuff!

Rules:

  1. Comics must come from actual comic books. No AI or Photoshops.

  2. Single panels are preferred.

  3. Comics should be unintentionally funny. Spider-man cracking wise is not what this is about.

  4. Don't be a dick.

  5. I can't believe I've had to add this... NO RACISM.

I hesitate to share this, but... *MATURE CONTENT ALERT*

In the 20's to early 30's there was a famous case of Eben Byers, a guy who dabbled in radioactive salts dissolved in water. At the time he more or less had it all, being a wealthy guy, successful in his endeavors, as well as an accomplished sportsman. Then a fake doctor and quack recommended his unregulated patent medicine "Radithor" for a sports injury.

At first Byers really did experience some benefits, but then started to feel... not so good. So he doubled down and increased his consumption, being absolutely confident in the stuff. Well, that process repeated until his lower jaw started rotting away, until eventually the lower part of his face was just... gone.

The late stage-pics are absolutely wild to me. It's hard to understand how someone could survive like that, but it seems he somehow lasted five years while on Radithor, dying of cancer in the end.

Who's that?
I think I learned about this guy on Reddit a few years ago.

He is a science/educational YouTuber.

He previously ran a channel called “Because Science” where he attempted to rationalise fictional phenomena using real world science.

I stopped watching his videos when he started his current channel for better autonomy.

Can I ask why you stopped? I used to watch him on Because Science as well, and when he got his own channel I was pretty skeptical, but I think he's done a great job with it so far.

It has been a few years, so I will do my best to recollect. Also, I appreciate the work Kyle Hill does and his decision to start a new channel for whatever reasons he deemed necessary. However, I did not like the videos from the new channel, and it could very well be that his style and content has changed over the years.

I remember making an honest attempt with his first few videos on the new channel. I remember not liking the new style of presentation: the setting of a spaceship with a sentient(?) computer program and their banter. It was uninteresting and unnecessary, and the attempts at humour felt flat.

The only reason I watched the videos till the end was for the subject matter. Everything else in his videos became a distraction, unlike his videos from the previous channel as well as his contemporaries where such elements added to the infotainment.

Eventually, I stopped clicking on his videos altogether.

Thanks for explaining!

I misread it as “Well’s last trick”, and it made more sense.
