I was about to buy all the components for a PC when i saw on AMD website that the selected CPU (Ryzen 7 5700G) works with PCIe 3.0.

I have selected as components a Gigabyte B550M DS3H motherboard that has gen 4.0 PCIe, 2x8GB DDR4 3200MHz and a 1TB Crucial P3 Plus M2 NVMe Internal SSD .

I read some info about this on this subreddit, here is what i understood, correct me if i am wrong please:

  • CPU and motherboard will comunicate just fine but using the older 3.0 PCIe
  • RAM dont use the PCIe interface to communicate with CPU so as long as they are the correct DDR and speed range everything is fine
  • The m2 PCIe 4.0 will work in any of the 2 slots, but again using PCIe 3.0 interface making it more wise to just buy a P3 normal not plus

Another important thing I saw on AMD website https://www.amd.com/en/products/specifications/processors.html is that windows 11 is not supported, is this actually true? thanks for the help
