Where to find ren:
@ren itβs funny, my former boss was in this video. I have so much respect for Len after hearing the story. They basically knew they caught lightning in a bottle with that song and took a bunch of the labels money and used it to fly all their friends from St Catherines down to Florida to shoot a guerrilla video. No permits or anything, just getting drunk and fucking about on the boardwalk.
amazing! Itβs a super fun album too.
Most of the times the label gives them a bill for that stuff and the band has to pay it back in album sales. Hope they knew that π
Usually struggle with picking just one for these but it has to be Hunnybee by Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Sunny days and smiles are all I get from this song!
Edit: Okay I lied about picking just one, there's also L.S.D. by Skeggs. Can't go wrong with a "woohoo" and "so I'm just gonna enjoy the sunshine" for summer lyrics.
Crying Lightning - Arctic Monkeys
Not sure why but its got a strange summer vibe for me.
Actually found this harder than expected--most of the songs I associate with summer are the wrong genre, or became super mainstream. But I played this album extensively one summer, and this song in particular has that warm, stuffy evening vibe for me.
Vampire weekend!
Mansard Roof has always felt very summery to me.
Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, nice! Yeah, VW definitely gives summer vibes somehow
Babe rainbow! Beach vibes in the vein of electric acid Kool aid test https://open.spotify.com/track/742oWlfJlZRsX6SA2QLRtD?si=8ogit9ylRK-ixl-o0bss7A
Awesome band. Definitely summer vibes
Feels Like Summer by Weezer. Too on the nose? π
The writhing south - Say Anything. I dunno man. Makes me happy! https://open.spotify.com/track/6NCjnGKa1Nj6blTwdnaNab?si=nzMqzh8sSg-Z5p9MOU5mYw
thatβs all that matters!
Minus the Bear - Absinthe Part At The Fly Honey Warehouse
Pretty much the whole album's a summer-soaked stomper but this one hits me with that nostalgic pang of young love heading somewhere for a romantic summer holiday.
20ish years ago I made a mixed cd for a bunch of friends when we were working at a summer camp. This song was dedicated to my best friend who lived just outside DC.
Smart Went Crazy - d.c. will do that to you (1997) https://youtu.be/PZTSIIhwi_A
arab strap - the first big weekend
Can I believe you by fleet foxes!
most of that album actually, for some reason it makes me think of summer.
ooo! great one!
Heat of the Summer by Young the Giant
Is that alternative? Either way, that song was released during the summer of 2018 and I couldn't stop listening to it.
if it ainβt mainstream! ;)
Supergrass - Alright (Spotify / Tidal / YouTube video / YouTube Music). To me this is the sound of summer holidays beginning, forgetting any worries and start enjoying summer
Big D and the Kids Table -Shining On
Lost in My Mind - The Head and the Heart
For me, summer is best for that indie-folk foot stomping music. I was really into their debut album when it came out and I saw them live in the summer of 2011.
Passing Afternoon - Iron & Wine
Pacific Theme - Broken Social Scene
Such Great Heights - The Postal Service
