YouTube is a very compelling value proposition right now for video producers with the recommendation algorithm, a huge user base, and higher value targeted ads. Without YouTube making their service much worse, I don't see an alternative convincing channels to make the jump unless they can match or exceed YouTube in those areas.

True but it's still nice to have!
To be honest, i would not want that kinda video storage on my name I think haha!
I think it's just as important to convince media consumers to try alternatives as it is media creators.
Every time YouTube increased required ad time or quantity of ads, I thought "oh, greedy" and it's at the point now I just take advantage of the very easy alternative of blocking all ads to deprive them of ad revenue.
If I can support a similar creative space that isn't hoovering up data and creativity without inflating an already bloated, self-interested corporate giant, I'm all for it.
I'm recently off Reddit because of their business practices, if it gets to the point that YouTube somehow kills my ad-blocking, I'll say so long to them too.
