Did he specify which tanks?

Are they older than 30 years? 40?

Better question at this point would be 'how many world wars have they seen already?'

Russia recently began pulling Soviet era armor out of cold storage so.... probably from there. So yea, I know you may have been slightly joking but it's accurate. These are old mostly out of order tanks being revived in a last ditch effort for Putin to not get Muammar Gaddafi'd on Facebook live in the coming years.

They've been fielding old Soviet armor like T-62s for a while now.

Right, but from what I believe those were their reserve tanks meaning they were either serviceable or usable tanks in storage for use at a later time. These old fuckers are neither serviceable or useable. It's hardware that was NEVER meant to be used again and therefore this equipment will be found to be largely unusable or simply stolen long ago.

Agreed, they're scraping the bottom of the barrel

Maybe they're 'Boost morale and bring happiness' kind of tanks.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin prepares for future insurrections within Russia by supplying Rosgvardia (Russia’s National Guard) with tanks, according to Ukrainian Military Intelligence spokesman Andriy Yusov.

“This is a very important signal, primarily to the Russians,” Yusov told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Aug. 10.

If heavy weaponry is being supplied to it, it means that they are essentially preparing for future suppression of uprisings.”

On Aug. 4, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin signed a law allowing the National Guard to be armed with heavy military equipment.

In addition to this, Putin signed a law on conscription of Russians aged 18 to 30 for military service and another law prohibiting citizens from traveling abroad from the day of receiving a draft notice, specifically at their place of work or study.

Earlier, media reported that in July 2023, Putin signed a record number of classified decrees, with 62% of the documents remaining unpublished.
