Is the GTX 1080 Ti worth it over the 1080? (zerobytes.monster)

My GTX 950 just died, so I’m using a 550 Ti right now, which isn’t really ideal (for many reasons), so I’m thinking of upgrading to a 1080 or 1080 Ti. Now I’ve noticed on eBay the prices for the 1080 Ti are about twice as much as the 1080, so with the crazy difference in cost, is it justifiable to get a 1080 Ti, or is the 1080 fine too?
