i am very heavily on the stance of threads doing an EEE, and mabye indirectly forcing other companies with good intentions to leave.

Honestly at this point threads federation probably won't even be able to get the first 2 E's because it's opt-in on the Threads side. Most Threads users don't know what ActivityPub is and aren't going to go digging through settings to turn it on. Aside from the POTUS Threads account I legitimately haven't found a threads account I'd remotely care about that bothered to turn it on, even among some of the more tech-oriented ones
I really hope the EU rips each of these corpos a new one. This idea of โwe get more functionality than others do so users come to usโ is disgusting with any company but corpos should be legally kept from doing it.
They said 'full federation by the end of 2024' but who the hell am I kidding, we can't trust a thing they say...๐คฆโโ๏ธ
We can only wait and see.

This is what I keep saying when people get distraught over it here. They keep talking about it, but so far, all we've seen is a handful of accounts that we can follow one-way. We don't know how much they'll actually do here.
