Bookwyrm.world has hit over 100 members! Additionally, the instance ranks 11th among bookwyrm instances based on the MAU (Monthly Active Users), which I would say is pretty good!

I hope that we'll see the next user milestone as soon as possible! If you have questions about bookwyrm or about the bookwyrm.world instance, then either ask it in the comments, in a lemmy dm, a mastodon dm to me or the bookwyrm.world mastodon account or via mail at [email protected].

SourceThe MAU ranking is based off fedidb.org's list of instances, ordered by MAU. The information was gathered at the 13th of May 23:01 CEST (UTC+2)

We've successfully updated to version 0.7.3 of bookwyrm. Before the update, we created a backup to ensure that we don't lose too much in case anything goes wrong. We'll update you if we come across any problems, and if you come across any problems, then contact us by mail via. [email protected] ASAP!

Have a continued good time reading! πŸ“–πŸ‰

I thank @[email protected] / @[email protected] for this amazing new logo and banner for the socials!

[-] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago

Yeah. It is kinda "lacking" in the terms of reviews. But for each goodreads people that join, the more reviews and books we get, as you can import your goodreads library. And knowing the fediverse, it won't be that long, I hope ;P

Bookwyrm is specifically made for booksharing and book reviewing. While lemmy is more general. For instance, this is a link to the "a game of thrones book" https://bookwyrm.world/book/8138/s/a-game-of-thrones. Here you have reviews of the book. You can also add that book to your "to read" list aswell.

If you are interested in sharing book recommendations with other, or just manage your books, then bookwyrm is great for that! The .world team also has a bookwyrm instance up and running at bookwyrm.world with a community here on lemmy as well at [email protected]. Read Ruuds original post about it here: https://lemmy.world/post/5904792

If you want to join another bookwyrm instance, then head over to joinbookwyrm.com.

Anyway, it's a great place to find books, share books, and find people with similar interests in books! If there is anything that you feel needs to be improved or changed on the bookwyrm.world instance, then contact me!

EDIT - Mastodon account for the instance: @[email protected]

My take is that this is way better than expected! This server was originally just a side project for LW, but has become my main focus. Its incredible how much a community can do on their own with limited rules! And I am so happy to see that all the "old school" players still play on the server! We have had minimal griefing, and that is especially above our expectation. Have this server been a Reddit server, then there might have been some more trolls and griefers. What is also fun is that not everyone on the server uses lemmy.world, or lemmy at all!

Matrix Invite (matrix.to)
submitted 9 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Since minecraft hates the "#" character in URLs, we need to find an alternative way of giving peeps the matrix invite. And viola! We have a perfect link sharing website called lemmy.world.... hmmm how interesting! Anyways: Here is the link, a 2nd time but this time inside of the post https://matrix.to/#/#minecraft:lemmy.world

Love the farm! (lemmy.world)
submitted 9 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

This communal farm has really developed fast! There is now bamboo, cocoa beans, wheat, carrots, potatoes, cows, sheep, watermelons & pumpkins! Thank you to everyone that contributed to the farm so far!

Hey there! Thank you for bringing this up! As the user @[email protected] says, the normal route for community "takeover" is to report them to us, and ask for the community that you want. I also see that you didn't want any of the communities, but thanks for reporting it! I've just now taken this up with the internal admin team :)

I honestly get dizzy by just looking at those numbers...πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

[-] [email protected] 22 points 1 year ago

NOTE: This graph does not show the entire fediverse, but only mastodon. Hopefully OP can change their title to reflect this.

[-] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago

It's on a private discord server for instance admins and mods, so not for public. Sorry :)

[-] [email protected] 29 points 1 year ago

Heyo! Small update from someone who is watching the upgrade live; it's ongoing still. Seems like they are still facing some performance issues. So grab your popcorn and wait! 🍿 (Btw, i am not a sysadmin, just a moderator)

[-] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

I think that is a problem with the current back-end version of Lemmy (0.17.4). I belivie that this is fixed in 0.18.0, but Lemmy.world has not been able to upgrade to it, as it is, presumably, badly optimized for larger Lemmy instances such as Lemmy.world.
