Musk, the anti-free speech hypocrite.

Musk, the Apartheid trust fund baby

if you're still using twitter, then you deserve exactly everything you're getting from it

[–] [email protected] 24 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Yes, and I'm not using xtter, but I'm still being effected by it. As is everyone on the planet.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 4 months ago (1 children)

*affected. One is a noun usage (effect) and one is a verb usage (affect)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Effect can also be a verb. You can effect change, and thus affect people's lives.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

Yes, true, but this is a lesser used form of Effect, and I thought it better not to muddy the waters for someone trying to learn the arbitrary rules we've assigned to one of the more difficult to understand languages in the world: English.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

exactly. which is why i shit on it and people using it at every opportunity

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Shitting on people is a lot less effective than showing them something better.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

"something better" in this case is getting rid of the notion that microblogging is even something that anyone needs

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The thing that makes me nuts is people justify it by, "but it's the only place I can find (person or service)."

Back in my day! People posted their products and services on multiple platforms to reach a broader audience. If the creator you like is too lazy to market themselves, having gotten spoiled on "Xitter will do my marketing for me," then that's on them. Encourage them to post on other platforms in order to reach you.

They are complicit and so are you.

Kamala Harris isn't a 'creator'

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

Exactly. As simple as this.

How else is someone going to find out about Biden retiring? Twitter is the official government platform.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

apparently not for much longer, if this post is true

Executive order moving all executive branch communications to The Fediverse.

Problem solved

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 months ago (3 children)

That’s not going to move the Twitter userbase with it. Then they’d only be communicating with Fediverse adopters.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

The media will have to monitor it or they will get scooped by anyone that does.

Once they are forced to live partially outside of that cesspool, they will see the value of setting up their own servers and jumping in.

Executive order seizing control of Twitter to establish it as a nationalized communication system

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

At least some of the US Government accounts have relays through Threads into Mastadon.

It's not ideal but it's better than being on xitter.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

How do you solve for example, de-federation with government owned instances ( which I imagine many would do)

Mastodon suffers the same problem as Twitter, if the people in control of the servers don't like it, they get to be arbitrate for their users. The solution is not for everyone to host their own instance as it's just immensely wasteful and complex, and since de-federation is not positively communicated, one can go a very long time before realizing they are getting content filtered unwillingly.

I just don't see how this problem (specific content being blocked) would be solved by the Kamala Harris's campaign team having a mastodon instance.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

I guess the same way you deal with the fact that Elon can ban people from Twitter

[–] [email protected] 31 points 4 months ago (1 children)

US government should immediately suspend and deactivate all their official Xitter accounts with a message asking people to stand against fascism

[–] [email protected] 11 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Nah, the government should leave en masse and say it's because it supports free speech. And post a screenshot of the 1st amendment.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

Read this as levee en masse. Quite confusing.

If you're still on Twitter, fuck you.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

How is it still a thing? Every day we stray further from God

[–] [email protected] 15 points 4 months ago

There is nothing we can do people. There is absolutely no other option, we just have to continue using Twitter :'(

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

FYI there is a threads relay to mastadon for the official White House account. There's also several unofficial xitter relays for VP Harris to Mastadon.

If you'd like official accounts on Mastadon please contact the White House / Biden / Harris and let them know.

I'm sure the respected journalist Matt Taibi is cracking the case right down as we speak... surely you're back on the Twitter files, aren't you Matt?

Musk has also attacked Harris more directly. “Democrats destroy democracy in pursuit of power,” a QAnon-linked influencer wrote with Biden’s resignation letter attached. “The Democratic elite, corporate media, and billionaire donors successfully pressured the candidate chosen by Democratic primary voters to drop out because he’s down in the polls and losing.

Same bs "moderates" tried to frame Biden stepping down...

They really do sound more and more like trumpets everyday

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

So land of the free but if we vote for you to run you have to even if you don't want to anymore. I didn't vote for Biden in my primary.
