That’s not going to move the Twitter userbase with it. Then they’d only be communicating with Fediverse adopters.
The media will have to monitor it or they will get scooped by anyone that does.
Once they are forced to live partially outside of that cesspool, they will see the value of setting up their own servers and jumping in.
Executive order seizing control of Twitter to establish it as a nationalized communication system
At least some of the US Government accounts have relays through Threads into Mastadon.
It's not ideal but it's better than being on xitter.
