Would've been a helluva thing to see Kowloon

It also would've been a helluva thing to smell.

Couldn't have been much worse than the rat water I had to deal with last week.

I had an extra trash can right outside my garage where the lid blew off before the last winter and I hadn't noticed. Naturally it filled with water once the snow melted. Last week I was digging around in that corner of the garage and smelled a smell, and found 3 massive (12" long before tail and probably 6" wide) rats that had gone in for water and didn't make it out. No clue how long they'd been in there, but I'm assuming quite a while based on the smell. I scooped them and some other trash out with a pitchfork. This water was straight rancid. Thankfully the was a portajohn a couple houses down for the house they're building, so I put it in there (I'm not about to dump that anywhere near my or my neighbors' houses). I felt real bad for the turd burglar that came to empty that.

this is awesome! Is there such a thing as a wallpaper community on Lemmy?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Do artists on Lemmy know about Nightshade yet? It helps protect copyright art from AI models. There are other AI poisoners out there as well, like for audio https://nightshade.cs.uchicago.edu/whatis.html

Nice! What model was used to generate this?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This one might actually be real. There is just enough detail... Also if it is ai, it's not allowed on 196

Ah that's a shame.

Look at the link. You can see it's human-made as there is an untextured 3D model GIF of it. /hu

TBH if it's not even drawn it's basically computer graphics which I don't see as being much different from AI art. It's the computer doing all the work anyway

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sure buddy. So all the hours put into digital art is just the computer doing all the work. It's a tool that assists you. That is different from AI art, which is a tool that you need to assist.

Do you ever like, read what you wrote and think about it for a minute? Because if you did I think you'd realize that you sound utterly delusional.

I'm pretty sure to an artist from the early 20th century the difference between having Ctrl+Z, nevermind 3D modeling and just having GenAI would be honestly minute and they wouldn't see either as to be the same craft or even to be on the same level of craft as what they're doing. They would both seem like the machine is doing all the work. Would they be right?

OK, real quick, grab a copy of Krita (don't worry, it's free) and remake this exact image. Shouldn't take you more than five minutes, right? The computer basically does all the work, after all.

Oh no it's still a ton of work to get it setup correctly and everything and learn how to work the tool, kind of like how actually getting SD to generate something half way decent is also actually quite complex and involves both technique and practice.

It's just that if I were a disingenuous anti-AI luddite like lots of peeps ITT who drew an arbitrary line in the sand between tools and followed my own logic, then compared to a 200 years ago, then indeed the computer does all the work, because there wasn't even any need to grow hemp for the canvas.

Yeah, this is gonna be the comment that sends me into a despair spiral today.

Honestly I was just confused bro don't worry, I thought this was [email protected], my go-to for wallpapers and just plain nice images these days, but this looks like just more Photoshop made stuff I think

If your assumptions have a flared base, please stick them up your butt.
